O-151 Shaped Charge Jet Review - Recommendations for the Review of STANAG 4526 EDITION 2

February 2013
Dr Pierre-François Péron (Warhead Technology)

Shaped charge aggression is recognized as one of the most difficult IM tests to pass. The difficulties are in particular linked to the high velocity of the jet that generates intense shocks in munition energetic materials. The violence of the aggression is generally scaled using a parameter called V2 D where V is the jet velocity and D its diameter. In the STANAG 4526 Edition 2 [1], four V2D levels (table 1) are defined to represent different sizes of shaped charges.
