L-266 International Review of ISS Practices

May 2021
Christelle Collet (MSIAC)
The present report provides a better understanding on how the MSIAC nations deal with surveillance activities of their munitions stockpile. The information contained in this report combines the results from an international survey on In-Service Surveillance (ISS) and stability testing, personal communications with targeted points of contact in the nations, and a literature review focussed on gun propellants. This hopefully provides the most complete overview of current ISS practices across the MSIAC member nations.
This work led to several recommendations and good practices on ISS, stability testing, ageing, and sentencing that could be shared and discussed with a wider community (e.g. AC/326 SG/A EMT) in order to ultimately update future NATO standards.
