MSIAC Munition Safety Award 2016 - nominations closed!

MSIAC has now closed the call for nominations for the 2016 Munition Safety Award.

What is the Award about?

MSIAC asks you to look within your national technical communities, to reach out to your colleagues, and help us recognize the best single and team performers working in the munition safety field today.  There are plenty of worthy efforts that could be recognized through this award and this is a great opportunity to showcase their efforts and provide some well-earned recognition.

MSIAC presents these awards for technical and career achievements in munitions safety (MS) at the Insensitive Munitions and Energetic Materials Symposium.  This continues a tradition of presenting these awards at NDIA IM/EM Technology Symposia since 1997.

The winners will be selected by the MSIAC Steering Committee, which consists of national representatives from the 13 MSIAC member nations.

See below for nomination guidance.

Awards are made in two categories:

The MSIAC MS Award for Technical Achievements will be awarded to individuals or teams who have made significant contributions in research and/or engineering related to the field of munitions safety. The individuals or teams should have published open technical papers on MS related work and/or made presentations of MS related work at open symposia such as the NDIA Insensitive Munitions and Energetic Materials Technology Symposium, DDESB Seminar, PARARI, or similar venues. This Award is intended to advance technically the options available to munitions program managers to enhance the safety of munitions throughout the entire life cycle.

The MSIAC MS Award for Career Achievements will be awarded to individuals who have made consistent contributions in research, engineering, production, procurement, fielding, standardization, policy, etc. related to MS over an extended period. The individuals should have a long record of open papers, presentations, and achievements in the field of munitions safety. This Award is intended to acknowledge career dedication to the cause of MS throughout the entire lifecycle.

Nominations:

Nomination content is at the discretion of the nominator. (There is no nomination form, per se.) A nomination should be one to two pages in length, describe the person/team being nominated, why they are being nominated, and a description of the achievement(s). If the nomination is for a single achievement, it should have culminated in the last two years but could have been an effort (or collection of efforts) spanning a number of years. If it is for a career achievement, then the nomination should specify the impact the person/team has had over a career (obviously less specific, but list some major accomplishments and brief details). Any person or team from an MSIAC member nation is eligible.
