Information

MSIAC, in cooperation with the Polish Institute of Armament Technologies (WITU), is pleased to announce a workshop dedicated to mechanical initiation of energetic materials below the shock regime. The event will take place from 19 to 23 April 2027 in Warsaw, Poland.
The workshop focuses on three core objectives:
  • Compiling the current state of the art in mechanical initiation models
  • Discussing their applicability and known limitations
  • Developing methods to evaluate the risk of munition reactions to sub-shock initiation triggers

Target Audience

The workshop welcomes scientists, researchers, engineers, and regulators from all MSIAC member nations, representing industrial, academic, and governmental institutions. Please note that national approval is required for participation — see the Participation Information section below.

Agenda

The workshop opens on Monday morning, 19 April, and concludes in the early afternoon of Friday, 23 April. To allow in-depth treatment of each subject area, breakout sessions are structured into three parallel tracks for scientists/researchers, engineers, and regulators respectively.

Location

The workshop is hosted in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, with the support of Poland's Institute of Armament Technology (WITU).
For security reasons, the precise venue will not be disclosed publicly. Full location details are available in the Limited Report L-321 via the MSIAC Laserfiche repository. Participants are requested to share venue information strictly on a need-to-know basis until the conclusion of the workshop.

Participation Information

Full details are provided in the Limited Report L-321, accessible through the MSIAC Laserfiche repository system.
The workshop is free of charge. Participating individuals and organisations are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
Registration follows a three-step process:
  1. Informal subscription on the MSIAC website (open since May 2026)
  2. Formal registration via this website (open from June 2026; deadline: 1 December 2026)
  3. National approval by the participant's National Focal Point Officer (NFPO), coordinated by MSIAC following registration
Participants will be informed of their approval status by MSIAC. Those registering close to the deadline are advised to confirm travel arrangements before NFPO approval is received, given the time required for the national approval process.
