L-181 Comparison of Safety Management Systems - 3rd Report

April 2016
Martin Pope
The objective of this Report is to provide a comparison of national safety management systems (SMS) undertaken over the munitions lifecycle to demonstrate and assure Safety and Suitability for Service (S3). The program of work was split into two phases for the collection of information and comprises an organisation and process review. The intention for a detailed walk through for some typical munitions highlighting differences in systems has not been completed due to the limited information provided. This report covers both phases of the study and contains information collected by questionnaires, meetings and informal discussion held with a range of staff from those nations that supported the study. The report contains an analysis of the differences in SMS identified. This is an ongoing activity and the study will be refined and this Report updated at key points.
