L-099 Review of Ignition Mechanisms and Small-Scale Tests related to Cookoff
December 2003
This report discusses an issue that is currently of interest to the IM community: cook-off.
A review of current knowledge in cook-off phenomena is proposed. Some key factors influencing pre-ignition, ignition and pot-ignition phenomena, such as confinement, heating rate and damage, have been screened.
This report reviews also the small-scale experimental capabilities being used to study them. A compendium of tests results and data related to 12 small-scale tests and a bibliography sorted by nations and organisations is proposed.
