During the last 5 years NIMIC has organised a series of Workshops for its nations on IM threat stimuli. These workshops have covered Bullet/Fragment Impact, Cookoff (Slow and Fast), Sympathetic Reaction and Shaped Charge Jet Impingement.

In the interest of providing immediate information resulting from Phase II of this Workshop, NIMIC has prepared Volume III of the IM Testing Workshop Report, covering Bullet Impact, Fragment Impact, Shaped Charge Jet Impact, Spall Impact as well as some considerations on Spigot

Prior to the first of the 1997 NIMIC Workshops on IM Testing, the staff at the NATO Insensitive Munitions Information Centre (NIMIC) prepared a paper describing a test methodology which better meets the requirements for IM assessment (The NIMIC IM Testing Approach, NIMIC-IB-147-97).

It is easy to prove that all up round (AUR) safety and insensitive munitions (IM) tests by themselves give little or no reliable information about the item under test unless conducted on large numbers of items. This of course is usually prohibilively expensive.

A workshop on insensitive munitions (IM) test methodology was sponsored by the NATO Insensitive Munitions Information Center (NIMIC) on 20-23 May 1997 at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

Over the last five years, NIMIC has organised a series of Workshops for its nations on the threat stimuli which are relevant to the concerns of making munitions less hazardous (MURAT/IM).

The NIMIC Insensitive Munitions award is an initiative of the NlMlC Staff, in particular that of Patrick Kernen, who was in charge of developing Mitigation Methods from 1991 to 1996.

Volume II contains a general description of the workshop and documents the discussions, conclusions and recommendations resulting from each of the three splinter groups on cookoff and one on XDT.

The NATO Insensitive Munition Information Center (NIMIC) has been in operation in Brussels for about five years and now has nine NATO nations plus Australia within its membership.

A four-day, invitational workshop sponsored by the NATO Insensitive Munitions Information Center (NIMIC) was held between 12-15 March 1996 at China Lake with the NAWC Insensitive Munitions community acting as hosts for the event.
